The east side sub headings

Southeast Side, Chicago

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Southeast side of Chicago unofficially begins at about 75th Street and S. Saginaw Avenue (later S. Torrance Avenue), in other words, from Rainbow Beach southwards. It extends south and east to the city limits, generally keeping between Lake Michigan and Lake Calumet.[1] Politically, the Southeast side is contiguous with the 10th Ward.
There are many neighborhoods within the boundaries of the Southeast side, including Windsor Park, Calumet, South Chicago, the East Side, Irondale, South Deering and Hegewisch.[2]

EL RANCHITO
El ranchito is a corner convenience store that has been in the east side for years and years. The name has changed many times due to different owners. But yet the same building still stands and the she service has been given to the people of the community and will continue to do so. This is not just a simple convenience store but it is also a family oriented and family owned business. It has been passed down from the great grandfather to the grandfather to the father and so on. Walking into this small building brings a smile to the east siders because they know that they can find anything that they may need for last minuet cooking ideas. Anywhere from fresh produce to tortillas to all of the ingrediants for tamales. People can just walk to this corner store and not have to worry about driving all the way to the grocery store for a simple lemon. You will be more than happy to know that a friendly neighborhood just like the east side has a wonderful store just like this one.

HAIR SALONS
From one block to the next you will be absolutely certain to find a hair salon. It may seem as though they won't have business due tot he competition. But every hair salon has their own handful of faithful clients. The faithful east siders sure know who their favorite stylist is. This wonderful group mostly woman hairstylist will be sure to please your everyday needed styles. From retro to modern they will be sure to put a smile on your face.

My community

The people who have been influential in my community are going to have t be the teachers, musicians, fireman, and police officers who are truly involved in the community. they have been able to provide the community with many fresh ideas and also with help. Some things that have been helping our community specifically are the after school corner houses that have been available for children after school to do homework and ask any questions to tutors and people who are willing to volunteer their time for that. we don't often hear about people actually doing this on their free time but believe it or not there are people who do this. there are immediate stereotypes that are placed on my community. specifically because it is a minority based neighborhood. many people assume that it is the crappiest place on earth and the house value has diminished because of the people that have moved in. it is true there is violence in my neighborhood but there are good things in it as well. there are mom and pop owned grocery stores, tae kwan do places, clinics, and restaurants. all types of things that are in the neighborhood that are positive. people sued to hear about my high school on the news due to its bad behavior George Washington High school. But now it seems to get better because i have younger cousin who goes there and she says that it is not a bad school. they actually wear uniform now and only the kids in the area are allowed into the high school which is why it is getting better. I have a friend who is an aspiring musician who is from the east side and i want to share his music video that is posted on youtube. it will give you an idea of what the east side looks like and what it feels to be "home."

Born and raised in the EAST SIDE!!!!!!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Side,_Chicago
I live on the south east side of chicago often times when people ask me where i am from it is so hard to explain that i liv eon the such east side near the indiana border... i have to mention landmarks such as the horse who casino or calumet park then the are becomes recognized. sometime people ask me if i live in "alphabet land". the reason why its called the alphabet land is because all of the avenue have a letter of the alphabet in it such as avenue b,c,d,e,f,g,j,l,m,n,o... it is really unique and cool i think. whenever i hear someone i say i live on avenue o i get so excited because i know exactly where that is. this neighborhood used to be predominately white and it is now becoming more of a minority neighborhood. this neighborhood used to be so friendly and quiet and ow often times gang violence is a huge fear for everyone around here. if you live in the 90's or the early 100's then its the worse part of the east side as the numbers keep going up it just keeps getting better.
